MONGOLIA PAVILION
Rather than explaining Mongolia through chronology, Simmetrico built its Expo 2020 Dubai pavilion narrative as a photographic survey of a culture defined by movement and adaptation. In the Mobility District, “Nomadic by Nature” connected Ulaanbaatar with the steppes, Potanin Glacier, Khermen Tsav, the Eight Lakes and mountain landscapes. Herders, horsemen, Bactrian camels, yaks, gazelles and falconry illustrated the relationship between people, animals and territory. The Naadam disciplines of wrestling, archery and horse racing introduced endurance and skill, while deer stones and ancient footwear added archaeological depth. Simmetrico developed the content narrative and visual language, using targeted visitor-experience enhancements to transform the imagery into a structured national portrait. Aligned with the official theme, “A History of Resilience, Innovating for the Future,” the pavilion presented Mongolia’s nomadic heritage as an active cultural system that continues to shape its identity and modern development.
