KINGDOM OF LESOTHO PAVILION
Altitude provided the organising principle for Simmetrico’s work on the Lesotho Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai. In the Sustainability District, the “Kingdom in the Sky” was presented through the relationship between its mountain environment, Basotho identity and future development. Cultural content connected Lithoko and Litsomo storytelling, traditional performance, Litema-decorated homes, the Mokorotlo hat and Basotho blankets, while natural-material architecture and careful resource use demonstrated an inherited approach to sustainability. The narrative then showed how the same highlands support the Lesotho Highlands Water Project, hydropower, solar and wind potential, climate-smart agriculture, aquaculture, wool and mohair production, and high-value diamonds. Simmetrico developed the content narrative and visual language with targeted visitor-experience enhancements, creating a unified presentation in which culture, landscape and economic opportunity reinforced one another. The pavilion positioned Lesotho as a distinctive mountain nation with practical assets for sustainable investment and regional growth.
