BURKINA FASO PAVILION

At the Burkina Faso Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, Simmetrico used storytelling to reveal the identity of a nation whose heritage is expressed through art, ritual and collective memory. Within the Sustainability District, the journey connected the legacy of the Mossi kingdoms and the Moro Naba ceremony with the historic architecture of Sya, the Ruins of Loropéni, painted-earth traditions and the dramatic landscapes of the Sindou Cliffs. Masks, dance, music and craftsmanship celebrated a living culture, while FESPACO and filmmaker Idrissa Ouédraogo positioned Burkina Faso as an influential voice in African cinema. The narrative then looked forward, highlighting gold and agriculture, sustainable farming, research, digital development and the growing economic participation of women. By bringing cultural continuity together with ambitions for education, equality, innovation and international cooperation, Simmetrico portrayed Burkina Faso as a creative and resilient “land of honest people”, rooted in its traditions while building a more competitive, peaceful and inclusive future.
